Selecting the right template for my blog. This was a big struggle in my initial days. I expect the same with you. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be here.

This post deals with some essential and detailed steps in selecting the right blogger template for your blog.

We all know Search Engine Optimization is the essential tool for blogging. With more than 500 million blogs and 2million blog posts daily, where does your article stand?

In this darwin’s world, only those blogs survive which run with SEO while the others are just blogs.
Blogger is so far the best medium provided by Google to publish posts. I think Blogger has the edge over WordPress in terms of code flexibility.

One thing that hinders the blogger’s superiority from WordPress is its outdated template design. The recent changes in blogger have added SEO to some extent but still struggles in terms of improvisation.

A blog without metadata is a body without identity. The search engines crawl through your page in search of metadata. Compatible and correct metadata aids in higher search engine rankings.

An ideal blog should contain a responsive metadata template either in the form of HTML code or Javascript.

It should be complete and informative, carrying the info of your blog.

The blog should be responsive. It should be fluid enough to sneak into any device and show us content in its full form.

In simple words, it should be compatible with mobiles, tablets, and desktops. The visibility should be flexible and neat in all these devices.

With increased mobile usage, a responsive blogger template is the need of the hour.

Nonresponsive templates are outdated and hinder SEO of the blog.

Too much of anything is devastating. These days blog designs have become more complex. The javascript stuffing is something everyone prefers.

HTML to javascript ratio has fallen to such an extent where some single page websites run purely on javascript.

But Javascript can hinder or delay Search engine rankings (SER).  A webpage stuffed with Javascript takes more time to get indexed by search engines. The google bots slowly process webpage data containing java.

Hence in 2019, minimalist template designs have taken a leap in usage. These templates have less complicated blog design reducing the usage of Javascript.

More the javascript more exceptional is the look of the blog. But at the same time, your blog becomes dead slow, making it useless.

There should be an ideal balance between HTML and JAVASCRIPT in your blog template.

Some free Blogspot templates come with encrypted Javascript. They have a devastating effect on blog loading time. Blogs free of encrypted scripts perform well and securely.

A perfect blogger theme should be equipped with all contemporary social media plugins to share your posts.

Social media marketing has a profound impact on your blog traffic. Many well-known bloggers gain significant traffic from social media.

Blogger templates without WhatsApp, Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook sharing prevent blog promotion to a greater extent.

The loading time of a blog should be least. Blogging world in 2019 is leaping towards AMP (accelerated mobile pages).

AMP compatible blogs tend to load faster when compared to its counterpart.

Speed is an absolute defining term in the success of a blog. Blogger templates are a bit lagging in adapting AMP. Though there are some AMP compatible templates available online, their applicability is questionable.

I used some of these AMP themes. Many of them have problems with google AMP validation and Adsense compatibility.

I prefer a minimalist blogger template than an AMP compatible blogger template.

These are a few primary prerequisites that have to be analyzed before selecting a blogger theme in 2019.
